Drop the Garbage
Keep your datapath clean: Drop the garbage, pass only the good packets!
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
In this problem we are asked to build a module that is capable of cleaning up the datapath of bad packets. I.e drop them from the stream.
Such a structure is commonly used in networking systems where packets can go bad due to errors introduced in them while transportation over the communication channel.
An error checking algorithm (like CRC) computes the quality of the packet and generates an error indication. If this indication is asserted HIGH for a certain packet, then it should be dropped from the stream.
In this design, the error indication arrives along with the EOP of the packet (i.e the last cycle of the packet). Packets that arrive with error indication should not show up on the output interface.
Packet sizes can range from 16 to 256 bytes from SOP to EOP.
